SIL conducts Enterprise Cloud on Premise Workshop with Nutanix

This week SIL organised workshop themed “Enterprise Cloud on Premise” with Nutanix. Nutanix is a global leader in cloud software and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions, making infrastructure invisible so that IT can focus on the applications and services that power their business. As a Nutanix partner, SIL now offers the whole range of Nutanix hyperconverged solutions to its customers.

“Nowadays, with the influx of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and IoT, traditional businesses have become redundant. There is a big challenge for firms to evolve and adapt with the rapidly changing customer needs. Every organisation should be able to build and manage their own IT infrastructure with the same ease and economics as public cloud. This is what Enterprise Cloud is all about.” said Kemraz Mohee, Chief Executive Officer of SIL.

Enterprise Cloud is a new form of IT infrastructure that gives a business the speed and flexible usage benefits. Hyperconvergence infrastructure (HCI) is a software-centric architecture that tightly integrates compute, storage, networking and virtualization resources on a single hardware platform. Hyperconvergence is an alternative to continual investment into siloed and tiered legacy systems. When reliance on separate systems is no longer a barrier, systems can grow and scale without encountering the traditional roadblocks that organisations may have faced in the past.

“SIL is very much delighted with the partnership with of a leading technology organisation such as Nutanix. Nutanix solutions will help to reduce the cost and complexity of virtualisation and separate storage. SIL will now be able to help its customers more effectively to modernize their IT Infrastructures and run applications at any scale, on-prem and in the cloud.” said Kemraz Mohee, Chief Executive Officer of SIL.

From the workshop on Enterprise Cloud on Premise, attendees from private and parastatal bodies in Mauritius learnt how to simplify their organisation’s IT infrastructure to the point where it functions like cloud. They discovered and learnt how to build a cloud-like infrastructure without the risk of lock-in, to rethink security and reliability practices within software-defined datacenters, how to manage complex infrastructure more easily, and react quickly to changing IT demands as well as how to improve application service delivery for modern workloads and use cases.

The business benefits of Nutanix HCI are that an organization no more have to guess the capacity of their compute and storage nodes in their network. With Nutanix HCI, you only pay for what you need while knowing that future business requirements can be met with a highly saleable solution. Moreover, a Nutanix solution requires less manual maintenance compared to traditional virtualisation platforms. By reducing the time required for patching and other maintenance tasks, staffs can spend more time on other business projects.

Nutanix solutions ensures that organisations lower overall infrastructure costs by eliminating the need to procure and manage separate virtualisation software. Nutanix solutions are built on the industry’s most popular hyperconverged infrastructure ( HCI) technology—a complete, 100% software-defined stack that integrates compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and security to power any application, at any scale.
