eGov Conference 2017: Leveraging on Digital Transformation in Public Administration

Digital Transformation in Public Administration” was the centre of discussions during the 4th edition of the eGov Conference. This event, organized by SIL jointly with its partner Oracle, was held on the 5th and 6th April 2017 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Balaclava.

The Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation, the Honourable Yogida Sawmynaden, officially opened the conference.

The eGov Conference 2017 was attended by nearly 100 government officials, from different government departments, ministries and parastatal bodies. During this two-day conference, four panel discussions were held with resource persons from SIL, Oracle and also high officials from the government of Mauritius. The objective was to explore the trends SMAC technologies are driving worldwide and understand how they could best be used in meeting the challenges lying ahead for public administration in Mauritius but also for governments on the African continent.

Discussions were held around these panel discussions organized on the following themes: Impact of Digital Transformation on Citizen Engagement, Public Financial Management in the Digital Age, Analytics, Security and Public Safety and Making the leap to Cloud. SIL had the opportunity to showcase its expertise in providing comprehensive software solutions in a number of fields, ranging from financial management to the use of social channel in agriculture. In a dedicated demo area, SIL staffs showed the value propositions of the company that could be implemented in the public as well as in the private sectors.
